NZ Spinal Trust Charitable Race Day
Over $12,000 raised for NZST
On Sunday 18th September at the Club's feature meeting, over $12,000 of funds were raised for the New Zealand Spinal Trust.
The day which featured the Listed Haunui Farm Karaka Classic, won by the formerly Pukekohe Park-trained Admiral, also featured several auctions, raffles and live entertainment.
Items that were auctioned on the day included a 2015 World Cup All Blacks Jersey signed by Richie McCaw, a leather rugby ball signed by Sir Colin Meads, a two-person fishing trip around Auckland and other sporting memoribilia.
These auctions, raffles and donations made on the day, collected a total of $12,439 to go straight to the New Zealand Spinal Trust.
The funds will be used by NZST to continue to support those who have Spinal Cord Impairments, help them on their journey to get back to work and live independently.
The oncourse crowd also witnessed a comical wheelchair race between the NZ Wheel Blacks and the jockeys, as well as some impressive wood chopping by the Counties Axemen who will be back in the New Year at the Club's Town & Country Day on Saturday 28th January 2017.
