Aussie Driver Search expands to 10 events

Aussie Driver Search will triple its number of qualifying rounds as it expands to include a New Zealand event in 2018.

The talent identification program will hold a total of 10 events including the two-day finale at Wakefield Park from December 11-12.

And in further evidence that the scheme is in high demand, ADS will be heading across the Tasman for the first time with Pukekohe to host an event on August 8.

It will also incorporate The Bend facility in June, a multi-configuration state-of-the-art motorsport complex outside Adelaide that will host a Supercars Championship Super Sprint round from August 24-26.

"The response to our program has been overwhelming with thousands of aspiring drivers from around the world dying for the opportunity to make it in motorsport without the need of big budgets” ADS founder Kyle Austin said.

"We want to make the program as accessible as possible and are stoked to be able to spread our reach across more of Australia and into New Zealand in only our third year of operation.”

Comprising of five categories, ADS is spearheaded by the Pro Competition prize which as recently revealed will offer the winner $600,000 funding to deliver a full-time Dunlop Super2 drive next season.

The Pro format will see entrants get behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar, V8 Utes Series and Toyota 86 Racing Series race cars. After paying an entry fee of $4950, aspirants have a one in three chance of moving into the finale.

"We are stoked to be giving the general public the opportunity to drive a real V8 Supercar, which is simply unheard of. This isn’t an experience car, this is the real deal and a former main game V8 Supercar driven at the top level.” ADS founder Kyle Austin said.

"All of our other cars are also proper race cars as actually raced in the support categories to the Supercars. There is no other way to get to drive this calibre of cars at such a low entry price, especially when you consider the prizes up for grabs”

Entrants who do not see themselves ready to take the plunge into the second-tier Supercars Super2 series have a chance of securing a $150,000 budget toward their career in the Semi-Pro section.

Competitors will be tasked with handling a combination of a V8 Utes Series car, Toyota 86 Racing Series and a BMW 130i Australian Production Car Series machine after an entry fee of $2950.

The GT section will see entrants handle an Audi R8 GT3 car, while the Amateur Competition offers a drive of a Toyota 86 Racing Series Car and Nissan Pulsar Race Car to win a $50,000 budget.

The Rookie Competition sees aspirants drive a V8 Ute with top three prizes awarded at each event from 30 drivers.

Applications for Aussie Driver Search open on the 4th February 2018 and will be open for 7 days.
