Nirvana In Fire in Karaka Million Contention
Nirvana In Fire (NZ) (Showcasing) got his career off to a flying start with a convincing victory in the first on the card at Pukekohe last week and is another Karaka Million contender for Haunui's exciting young sire, Showcasing (GB) (Oasis Dream).
The Karaka Million King, Showcasing already has a win (Hardline), a runner-up performance (Showmeyamoneyhoney) and a Karaka Million 3YO Mile (Raghu) in the trophy cabinet. And results over the past three weeks suggest that he'll once again be well represented in New Zealand's richest juvenile contest after She's A Thief (NZ) (Showcasing) was too good for her opposition at Te Rapa three weeks ago and, Nirvana In Fire followed suit.
"It's been a big few weeks for Showcasing," said Shannon Taylor, Haunui Farm's Sales and Marketing Manager. "We've had to wait for the good tracks for the results to come but, they're coming thick and fast at the moment on both sides of the Tasman," she said, referring to Showcasing's four stakes performers in recent weeks, Carnival and Bit Lippy in New Zealand So Far Sokool and Truly Belong in Australia. "He's got two Karaka Million contenders and while there's still a lot of water to go under the bridge between now and then, he's had runners in the race each year they've been eligible and it's looking likely this year will be no different," she said.
Adding to Showcasing's credentials is his international appeal with his dual Group One winning filly Quiet Reflection fetching 2.1 million guineas to the bid of Coolmore at the Tattersall's December Sale earlier this week whilst Group Two winner Prize Exhibit fetched 775,000 guineas.
Showcasing will return to his Northern Hemisphere base, Whitsbury Manor Stud, on the 20th of December where he will stand the 2018 breeding season for a fee of £35,000.
