Pukekohe Park To Host Obstacle Duathlon For Kids
With less than three weeks to go, the entries are rolling in for the Pukekohe Park Kids Obstacle Duathlon.
Following on from the success of the last two years, it looks to be set to surpass last year's total of 325 students. The event, which is held on Tuesday 20th September, is a unique combination of running, cycling and obstacle course running at Pukekohe Park. The thrill of running and cycling on the same race track that hosts the V8 Supercars is a big reason why students are returning for more.
This year's event has some new features, such as a four metre inflatable slider to scale up and slide down 50m before the finish line on the obstacle course, and finisher medals. Year 4 - 8 students can enter as individuals or teams of two. Students race in their gender and year level categories, with ten races in total. Competitors will recieve a race pack with goodies from local and national companies.
Organisers Endurance Events say this is a great way to build self-esteem and encourage goal setting. "We celebrate the winners with trophies and certificates, but most importantly we celebrate the achievement of finishing such a difficult physical challenge," they say.
