Smeg Racing Ready for Title Fight Against Trass Family Motorsport

Smeg Racing's Simon Evans and Gene Rollinson are relishing the challenge of taking on rivals Sam Fillmore and Danny Stutterd for overall honours in this year's ENEOS North Island Endurance Series.

The Audi R8 GT3 drivers are tied on points with the Trass Family Motorsport Ferrari drivers as both head to Pukekohe Park this weekend for the Three Hour series showdown on Saturday.

Both crews sit on 195-points after two of three rounds, with Nick Chester and Cameron Jones not too far behind on 178-points in their Holden Commodore ex-V8 Supercar based machine.

Reigning New Zealand Endurance Championship winners Smeg Racing, who's car is run in conjunction with Racer Products, won the first round at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo.

Fillmore and Stutterd took victory at the Hampton Downs Motorsport Park last time out. Both races were heavily influenced and affected by weather conditions and weather looks like it will be a factor this weekend too with more rain forecast.

"Pukekohe is a circuit both myself and Gene are very familiar with so it is a great place for us to go and fight it out with Sam and Danny for the title,"Smeg Racing's Simon Evans said.

"We're still on a learning curve with the SMEG Racing Audi but we have a great team behind us and we are confident we can put all the pieces together and have a great race. Saturday cannot come soon enough."

Practice takes place on Friday with qualifying and the race the highlights of a busy day's racing at Pukekohe Park on Saturday as both the Three Hour and One Hour North Island titles are decided.
